GPU’s, demand vs availability

Image
With the rise of LLMs (Large Lagugage Models) like ChatGPT and the potential introduction of LLMaaS (Large Language Models as a Service); Gamers should not worry about large language models like ChatGPT taking over their graphics cards. LLMs require server-grade GPUs for their training, which are not the same as consumer-grade GPUs used for gaming. LLMaaS is also likely to become the norm, with cloud services providing server farms full of GPUs for machine learning algorithms. However, the rise of ChatGPT could potentially lead to fewer consumer GPUs being made by companies like Nvidia, as server-grade GPUs are more profitable. This may lead to AMD becoming the default card maker for gamers while Nvidia focuses on server GPUs. Nonetheless, there will still be consumer-grade graphics cards available for gamers, just not as many Nvidia cards as before. #artficialintelligence #llm #chatgpt #gpu #gamers Originally published in the VerbionPulse newsletter on LinkedIn: GPU’s, dem...
